Honey Bee
Cabin

"We're so glad you're here."

Welcome back!
Checking today's mountain weather…

Welcome to Honey Bee Cabin, a quiet corner of the Georgia mountains set among hardwoods and hemlocks in Sautee Nacoochee, just a few winding miles from the Bavarian village of Helen. We built this place to be exactly what we've always wanted from a mountain getaway: unhurried, warm, and genuinely restorative.

The screened porch is the heart of it all. Whether you're soaking in the hot tub with the outdoor TV on low, listening to rain on the roof, or watching the forest go golden at dusk, this is where time slows down. Make yourself entirely at home.

Your keypad code is sent the morning of arrival.

Finding the Cabin

  1. 1Navigate to 177 Monroe Ridge Road, Sautee Nacoochee, GA 30571.
  2. 2At the deep left-hand curve, a small yellow building appears directly ahead. You're on track.
  3. 3Continue through the curve. Pass a gravel road on the left, then a paved road also on the left.
  4. 4Do NOT turn left onto the paved road even if your GPS says to — other cabins are down there.
  5. 5Watch for a directional sign for Honey Bee, Red Rose, and Deer Ridge. Follow the Honey Bee arrow, straight ahead.
  6. 6Honey Bee Cabin is the first cabin on your left. Pull in on the gravel. Welcome home.
🛒 Stock up before you arrive. There's no walkable store nearby — grab groceries in Helen or Cleveland on your way in. See for stores.

Inside the Cabin

Everything you need to know about your home in the woods.

The screened porch is the signature of Honey Bee, it's where most guests spend the majority of their time. It features:

  • Hot tub, professionally cleaned before every arrival. Please shower before use and replace the cover when done. It's maintained at temperature year-round.
  • Outdoor Smart TV, watch movies while you soak. Remotes for the outdoor TV and string lights are on the back porch. If you can't find them there, check the coffee table in the living room. The ceiling fan remote is mounted on the exterior wall next to the French doors leading from the living room to the porch.
  • String lights, remote on the back porch (or check the coffee table if not there)

The French doors from the bedroom open directly onto the back deck. The ceiling fan remote is mounted on the exterior wall next to the French doors.

The hot tub uses a control panel on the tub. A few things to know:

  • The tub automatically circulates on low mode to maintain temperature, this is completely normal, not a malfunction.
  • Press Jets to control speed. If the tub is fully off, one press = low mode, two presses = high mode.
  • Press Lights to turn tub lights on, off, or cycle through colors.
  • When finished, press Jets to turn off. The tub may continue running quietly in low mode to maintain temperature, that's normal.
  • Always replace the cover when not using the tub to keep debris out and maintain water temperature.

The hot tub is professionally cleaned before every arrival. Please shower before getting in.

Gas Fireplace: Available year-round. Use the remote on the mantle, it controls everything. Do not touch the gas logs themselves or make any adjustments to the log controls directly. If you have trouble, reach out to us. A few things that should go without saying: no matches, no cooking over the flame, no roasting marshmallows, and no trash in the fireplace.

Heating & Cooling, Daikin Mini-Splits: The cabin has two Daikin mini-split units, one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom. Remotes are mounted on the wall near each unit.

To use:

  • Press the pink ON/OFF button to turn the unit on.
  • Press MODE to cycle between modes, use ❄️ (snowflake) for cooling or ☀️ (sun) for heating. Skip the A (automatic) mode, it's not efficient.
  • Use the TEMP ▲/▼ buttons to set your temperature.

⚠️ Important: Both units must be set to the same mode. If one is on heat and the other on cool, they will fight each other and neither will work properly.

The grill is connected to the large cabin propane tank. To use:

  • Open the shutoff valve at the tank.
  • Set the propane timer to your desired cook time.
  • Ignite the grill using the grill's own ignition.
  • When finished, close the shutoff valve and let the timer run out.
  • Grill tools are stored in the cabinet below the grill
  • Please clean the grill grates after use, brush is next to the grill

Mountain power can flicker during storms, it's rare, but we're prepared. You'll find a Power Outage Kit in the TV stand in the living room:

  • 🔦 Lantern
  • 🕯️ Candles & matches
  • 🌟 Glow sticks
  • 🔋 Extra batteries

Outages in Sautee are typically brief. The hot tub will resume normal function when power returns. If an outage lasts more than an hour, text us and we'll check in.

A vehicle is essential at Honey Bee, there's no walkable commercial area nearby. Everything is a short, beautiful drive:

  • 🍺 Downtown Helen: 5.9 miles (~10 min) via Hwy 17
  • 🌊 Unicoi State Park: ~3.3 miles
  • 💧 Anna Ruby Falls: ~7 miles
  • 🛒 Ingles (Cleveland): ~10 miles
  • 🛒 Walmart (Cleveland, GA): ~20 miles

The drive into Helen on Hwy 17 through Sautee Valley is gorgeous, one of Georgia's most scenic routes.
